VTCT Level 1 Introduction to Hair and Beauty Sector Award

LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE IN AN INTRODUCTION INTO THE HAIR AND BEAUTY SECTOR

 

 

 

The aim of the VTCT Level 1 Award in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector is to provide learners with foundational practical skills and knowledge in both hair and beauty. The course introduces learners to the industry, teaches them how to present a professional image in a salon, and equips them with the basic skills needed to perform and assist with various hair and beauty services. This serves as a stepping stone for further education or entry-level roles in the industry.

 

 

Course Units:

There are two mandatory units in this qualification;

  • Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
  • Present a professional image in a salon.

You will then be able to select three optional units from a large range which includes: plaiting and twisting hair, shampoo and conditioning hair, hand or skin care, themed face painting, styling men’s or women’s hair, basic make-up application, nail art application, create an image using colour or hair and beauty techniques, dressing hair, photographic make-up, providing basic manicure or pedicure treatments, colour hair using temporary colour, salon reception duties, how to follow health and safety and working with others in the hair and beauty sector, create and maintain retail displays or how to perform a head massage service.

 

Course Progression:

Students can progress onto other non-accredited and accredited courses if they choose.

  • Level 1 VTCT Hair Styling
  • Level 2 VTCT Makeup Artistry
  • Level 3 VTCT Media Makeup
